Step by Step to Install Hybrid Flooring

Posted by Brenda Zhang on

.Measure up the correct square meters of the space. Add extra 5-7% of the square meters in your buying for cutting spare.

.Purchase the Hybrid SPC or WPC planks. Get the order delivered two days before your planed installation. Put the whole package in the middle of the installed area for 48 hours so that the planks get up to the temperature of the room.

.Prepare the existing floor to make sure that the surface is clean and flat. Hybrid planks  can be installed above any type of existing flooring and it’s also safe to use above underfloor heating. If you’re laying over the top of something else, just make sure you have no loose floorboards. The great thing about this flooring is that it already has underlay beneath it so there’s no need to install this as well. You can choose to install the flooring on top of carpet since Hybrid flooring is a floating floor and does not need to stick to the ground, but I don't think it's a good idea to simply put a new flooring on an old carpet when it's quite possible that it's dirty and with all the negative impact of smell and humidity.

.Start laying your planks left to right using 10mm spacers to create an expansion gap and make sure your planks are 10mm from the wall on either side. Your planks will slot into one another.

.Before clicking your planks together, make sure the end join is positioned correctly. Once aligned and positioned use a rubber mallet to secure them. Make sure you hit the join, and after clicking it in, make sure it’s smooth to touch. After every row, push back to make sure it’s all tight with no gaps.

.If you need to cut your boards, use a square to make sure everything is straight and use a utility knife to cut – to keep safe, wear protective gloves when doing this cutting. Hold your knife at a right angle, then cut a few times to make sure you’re all the way through the wear layers. Once you’ve made your cut, flip your piece over and snap – it will break off at exactly the right spot. Hold your larger pieces at a 30-degree angle, then click into place.

.Once you’ve laid all your flooring you’re good to remove your spacers.

.After your floor is installed and your spacers are removed you’re ready to install your choice of skirting.
